- What is Dubai Financial Market (DFM)?
DFM is a securities exchange in Dubai, United Arab Emirates that provides a market for investors to buy and sell the stocks of publicly held companies in the UAE. Public Joint Stock Companies will be listed at the DFM, and investors will be able to trade in the shares of these companies through accredited brokers. Typically, UAE-based companies are listed on this exchange although other Middle East companies trade on the DFM as a secondary listing. Also listed on the exchange are bonds, sukuk and listed funds.
- What is Abu Dhabi Securities Market (ADX)?
ADX is a securities exchange in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where investors can buy and sell stocks of companies listed in ADX. Investors can trade in ADX through accredited brokers. Typically, UAE-based companies are listed on this exchange although other Middle East companies trade on the ADX as a secondary listing. Investors can also find listed funds and fixed income instruments on the exchange.
- What is Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX)
The DIFX is a stock exchange based in the financial free zone - the Dubai International Financial Centre - in Dubai. This exchange is geared towards listings of Sukuk, Bonds, Structured Products, Futures and Options and also the equity of any llocal or international company that qualifies.
- Who is a broker?
A broker is a company authorized by Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) to trade in DFM, ADX and DIFX on behalf of an investor. A brokerage service helps you buy and sell stocks, bonds, debentures and related financial instruments. MAC Sharaf is a brokerage house licensed to trade in both DFM & ADX and DIFX.
- What is Clearing, Depository and Settlement department (CDS)?
CDS is a department responsible for the safekeeping and maintaining of the registries of all listed securities in the CDS electronic registry. Each stock exchange globally has a CDS as has the DFM, ADX and DIFX.
- What is an Investor Number?
The Investor Number (IN) is a unique number given to you as an investor. It identifies your account at the Clearing and Depository System (CDS), which holds all investor shares. The IN will be used to transfer shares to and from your account each time you buy or sell shares. To transact in DFM & ADX you are required to have the Investor Number of the respective exchanges. A present investor is someone who already owns shares of a DFM & ADX
& DIFX listed company.
- Who is a "new investor"?
A new investor is someone who does not own any shares of a ADX & DIFX listed company
